George and Jake Wang have created a non-profit organization called Chess Haven. This is an organization that describes their volunteer chess work.

The Blizzard Chess Tournament!
The Blizzard Chess Tournament was a scholastic chess tournament for grades K-6 that was held on March 7, 2015, 9:30am-11:45am.
There were 6 schools competing. We would like to congratulate our school chess club member Nikhil Vudattu (2nd Grade) for placing first!
The tournament was a great experience for students who wanted to play chess competitively.
The tournament was hosted by Rod Groff and had 3 volunteers: Jake Wang, George Wang, and Lawrence Moy.
We would like to thank everyone who participated and we hope to see you in the next chess tournament!

World Amateur Team East!
Worthington Hooker School Members Place 2nd in the World Amateur Team East!
The 3- day tournament was held in Parsippany , NJ, and just finished a couple days ago. The tournament was also the largest team tournament in the US.
Over 250 Teams competed and over 1000 players competed.
Not only did we place 2nd, but Jake Wang finally broke past the Class B player range into the Class A range ( 99.81 Percentile)
Congrats to all Participants!

Worthington Hooker Chess Club 2014-15
Enrollment is now open for Chess Club. The club is open to students of all skill levels in Grades K-8. It will start on Tuesday, October 7th at the Upper School library, and run from 2:50 until 3:45 every Tuesday. Students may bring a snack to eat before game play starts at 3:00. Enrollment is limited to 28 students. Please use the attached registration form. Uconn Scholastic Chess Tournament!
Everybody did a great job at the Uconn Scholastic Chess Tournament! Though we lost on tiebreaks by a very small margin to catch 1st, we still managed to get a clear 2nd place spot!
We were outnumbered in players, but we endeavored to do our best! Last May, two of our players managed to beat Bugbee Elementary School and were completely outnumbered!
